I’m Not For Everyone

I just had this conversation with a couple of friends yesterday.  Everyone is at different levels in their soul’s journey and it takes time to embrace truth.  Not everyone is “ready” to see the bigger picture.  Actually… it took me over 40 years to accept myself for who I truly am and become comfortable enough in my own skin, to share my truth for the world to see.

When you have faced some of the toughest challenges in life, you are given the ability to see life through your heart instead of just your eyes.  Your perspective changes and you are able to acknowledge the gifts you are given.  It’s not an easy process by any means!  The journey of enlightenment and understanding is not all sunshine and rainbows.  The dark night of the soul plays a huge part in your ability to examine your experiences and discover the life lessons you were meant to learn.

What exactly IS the dark night of the soul?

The “dark night of the soul” is a term that goes back a long time.  It is a term used to describe what one could call a collapse of a perceived meaning in life… an eruption into your life of a deep sense of meaninglessness.  The inner state in some cases is very close to what is conventionally called depression.  Nothing makes sense anymore, there’s no purpose to anything.  Sometimes it’s triggered by some external event, some disaster perhaps, on an external level.  The death of someone close to you could trigger it, especially premature death, for example if your child dies.  Or; you had built your life and given it meaning, and the meaning that you had given it – your activities, your achievements, where you are going and what is considered important, for some reason, collapses.

It can happen if something happens that you can’t explain away anymore, some disaster which seems to invalidate the meaning that your life had before.  Really what has collapsed then, is the whole conceptual framework for your life, the meaning that your mind had given it.  So that results in a dark place.  People who have gone into that place and emerge out of it into a transformed state of consciousness and understanding.  Life has meaning again, but it’s no longer a conceptual meaning that you can necessarily explain.

They awaken into something deeper.  A deeper sense of purpose or connectedness with a greater life that is not dependent on explanations or anything conceptual any longer.  It’s a kind of re-birth in a sense.  The dark night of the soul is a form of death.  What dies is the ego sense of self.  Some people who’ve gone through this transformation realized that they had to go through it in that way, in order to bring about a spiritual awakening.  It is a part of the awakening process – the death of the old self and the birth of the true self.

How do I know if I am in the state of “the dark night of the soul?

There are many indicators to know when you have reached this place of self-evaluation and examination.  Below is a great article I found that gives you 18 signs to help you identify with:

I have realized through my own dark night of the soul what I am here for.  I tried to deny it for years until I could not deny it any more.  I am here to be an example to others.  I am here to teach people that there is SO much more to life than what we’ve been conditioned to believe.  I am here to light the way for those looking for answers in their own lives.

I am a Lightworker.  I am one of many who are here at this exact time and space to help others realize and accept their own gifts, strengths, abilities and purpose.  We all have gifts we’ve been given to share with the world and it’s our calling as Lightworkers to help you discover these things so together; we can heal the planet.  We are here to help you understand how incredibly special you are, how much you are needed and how much you are loved!

I know many may not be at a place in their life to accept and receive the knowledge I am here to share.  I am not FOR everyone… and that’s ok!  The ones who ARE ready are gravitating closer and closer each day.  With the beauty of the internet, we are able to connect with others around the world on the same mission – a mission of love.

I have connected with some pretty incredible people over the last few years who “get me” on levels beyond normal comprehension.  I’ve learned that people who are meant to be in your life will find you and be ready to hear and accept what you have to share.  We all have our own divine timing in life and when you are ready to learn?  I am here for you, too.

Much Love,

  1. Janess
